The Journal is time-forward. Dated, free-form voice notes, video messages, and text entries. A daily chronicle of life as it happens, scheduled to deliver to the people you love on the days you choose ("her 18th birthday," "their wedding"). The Life Story is the inverse, time-backward. A curated bank of 1,000 prompts across ten dimensions of a life (childhood, family, love, career, lessons, funny moments, big decisions, legacy, beliefs, adventures), designed to surface memories you would not think to write down on your own. Same vault, same trusted contacts, same encryption. Most people use the Life Story for everything before now and the Journal for everything from now on.

Your data never depends on us. Every Eternal Vault is governed by an irrevocable legal trust with accredited university partners and custodians. A self-sustaining endowment fund finances operations independently. Even if the company ceases to exist, the trust structure keeps your vault intact. And if you ordered an M-Disc, you hold a physical copy rated for up to 1,000 years (ISO/IEC 10995:2011/ECMA-379, U.S. Department of Defense projection).

No. Everything is encrypted on your device before it ever leaves. Our servers store only ciphertext, encrypted data that is unreadable without your key. We use AES-256-GCM with zero-knowledge architecture. No one at Henedo can access or read your data. Not engineers, not support, not executives. A server breach yields nothing decryptable.

No. You choose how long the switch waits before activating: 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, or longer. After that period of inactivity, all your contacts are notified and a grace period begins. During this window, a single check-in from you stops everything. You'd have to be completely unreachable for your entire chosen interval plus the grace period before any access is released.

Yes. Paid plans include a full will builder with jurisdiction-specific legal templates that meet signing and witness requirements worldwide. The free Witness tier includes only a watermarked template for preview purposes and is not legally binding. For additional assurance, attorney document review is available as an add-on ($79/document), with Legacy subscribers receiving one free review per year.

By design. The Living Vault is a delivery mechanism, not a monument. Once your contacts have received their designated access (passwords, documents, final messages), the vault permanently and irreversibly deletes after 60 days. This protects your privacy even after death. No lingering data, no future exposure. It does its job and disappears.

Each card is personalized with the contact's engraved name, a unique QR code, and an NFC chip. Cards are mailed within 14 days of signup. While you're alive, the cards exist but access is blocked. When the continuity switch fires, contacts receive a certified letter and can tap or scan their card to reach their designated portion of the vault. Think of it as a permanent physical key to a digital lock.

As storage technology gets cheaper every year, the reserve grows while costs shrink. No. Contacts know they've been designated and they receive their access card or key, but the platform blocks all access while you're alive and checking in. They cannot see, browse, or preview any contents. Access is only granted after the continuity switch fires and the grace period expires. Until then, the vault is fully private.
